Good friends, camping and music is a great formula for some awesome fun. Many artists and fans attend the Walnut Valley Festival in Winfield (Kansas) each September. All kinds of music can be heard at the festival including bluegrass, country, classical and rock. Camping at the festival is like attending a large family reunion. There are workshops, music on several stages, campground jams, sales of instuments, lots of arts and crafts, and a selection of fine food. Did I forget to mention homemade ice cream? That's the main reason I go to the festival. I hope to see you all there next September.
If you are in search of good music, Wichita (Kansas) is the place to be. The Mischief Makers, Carrie Nation and the Speakeasy, Back Porch Budda, Nikki Moddelmog, Pop and the Boys, Uche and the Crash, Terry Quiett Band, The Crowsons, Bryan Masters, Mark Horton and Ragman's Wagon. That's just some of the local artists. Wichita clubs and local venues host other bands and jams. The Walnut Valley Festival (third weekend of September every year) is only about 45 minutes away offering professional musicians and lots of great music.
